Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself.

I've played Chess for many years, but having gotten tired of that to a certain extent I find Go is much more fresh for me, and somehow I feel that Go is more 'pure' than Chess because the base ruleset is simpler. And yet, because of the large board size the different strategies seem much more complex.

Also, I do game development as a hobby and am working on a game that is influenced by Go, which hopefully I will release sometime soon.

Welcome!

It's always good to have a break if you're not enjoying chess. And what better game to take up than this one! If you thought chess was addictive, try hanging round this game for a while...

Are there any clubs near you?

Not sure if there are any clubs nearby. I'm in South Florida (USA), if you know of any let me know.

Though I probably would have more time to play if it was just online. Will have to do some searching for a good online server.

There are plenty to choose from. Most here will recommend KGS, IGS (Pandanet), OGS (web-based, beginner-friendly) or DGS for correspondence games.

I’d like to add that OGS offers both live and correspondence games :-)
