Hello everybody, I'm a french maths student, and I've been interested in Go for some quite a long time. I've made the step and learned the rules this week, and start to loose all my first games on KGS! So I've decided to start studying a bit and thus started to read the Janice Kim' series "Learn to play Go" Is it a good choice to begin with? Do you have further recommendations? I don't know if I can ask but would a nice more advanced player would have time for a pedagogical match one day ? Thanks a lot, In the pleasure of playing against you one day, Sn0w. |

But if you want to get stronger you should also look to play real time games. Quote: Do you have further recommendations? I always recommend the series "Graded Go Problems for Beginners". It literally starts off with "capture the stone in atari" type of problems in book 1 and ends with fairly advanced single digit kyu problems in the 4th book, and it covers all types of topics (even the opening). Janice Kim's books are excellent starters. I also like 'Opening Theory Made Easy.' |
