Post subject:  Central Mississippi Go Club

Hello, I'm msgreg. I've posted just a few times here so I thought it must be time to introduce myself. I've been a go player for about 15 years, including a fourteen-year hiatus.

I've just recently started playing again for the first time and in September was looking for a few "live players" in my area. Finding none, I started the Central Mississippi Go Club and have been going strong since November 1st. We had ten players show at our last meeting. It was great!

I've been working hard in the background with the help of the great volunteers at the AGA (see the AGA article write up!).

There's some interesting mostly-local info at www.cmgo.org about the club (and a latest article on "Interesting Stones, beyond black and white"). I've also posted a lot of how-to information and source files to help other clubs get started such as Making Demonstration Stones, Internet Resources for DIY Go Sets and parts, Creating and stocking a Go Box for club organizers, business card information (all the rules on one side of a business card!), club announcement examples, web site creation, and tips on finding places to play.

As mentioned in the AGA article "I’m confident CMGO will be a hub for teaching and playing go in Central Mississippi for quite a while."

This is a great forum (and one I link to from the brief resources page.

Feel free to contact me, especially if you are another club organizer, and especially those in a 5-hour-drive radius from Central Mississippi Go Club.
