Just bought some books from Slate and Shell during their final sale and amongst the books I ordered I bought these books because they were very cheap at only $1.50 each. At first they don't look useful because of the weird shapes which you would never encounter in real games as they are created from the shapes of Arabic numerals and Chinese characters. So you would probably think that they are therefore silly and not very useful. But if you think about this a step further, it's precisely because of these unusual shapes that the problems tries to break your thinking out of a box. It's not about shapes you should be familiar with which happen all the time in games. You need to sharpen your thinking and really look around. Mr. Yang provides clues in the introduction of each puzzle as to the direction you should aim towards and tried to lead you towards the right way of looking at each shape. When you have solved the puzzle you will have been led by Mr. Yang to look at specific tactics of solving tsumego problems. Looking at the answers afterwards will further ingrain the values of these tactics and key points in your mind so you can look out for possible usage of such ideas when you play your own game. So at the end of the day, the books will help players consolidate a set of useful tactical skills.

They are small pocket sized books which you can easily carry around and the problems are designed for player from 10 kyu to 5 dan.

I can only say that at the current price, it's a steal. And if offered at the original price later on via Amazon, it's still worthwhile to consider. So if you are interested, do be aware that the S&S Final Sale will end August 1st, 2017.
