Could someone who knows the server clarify if it's possible to create a game with a maximum accepted restricted handicap?

If the only possibilities are entering into an already created game and closing the game once started, if it has too much handicap, what are the consequences of closing several ranked games, if any?

If you close ranked games as soon as they start there is no consequence AFAIK. if you wait 20 moves, they will be losses.

Wouldn't that mean closing games over and over until all players get tired of trying or someone your rank gets in?

It's worth noting, that the server is still in beta, and although you can't set a max-min handicap yet, this seems like something that will get implemented eventually. Right now, people are still getting used to the server with it's various time settings etc., so I'd suggest just playing any takers, taking the opportunity to play some high handicap games if you're not used to it, and not worrying too much about your rank there (or anywhere else :p).

Oh, I have no problem with playing some of any kind of game. I thought the no handicap limits was a design decision.

I do know that some people are against such limits and I thought kaya was on that side of the fence.

Ask your opponent if he fancies a handicap game before you challenge.

It's not a real solution, and its kinda rude, but if you really don't want to play high handi, it works

I'd say you will be delighted at 1.7.0 Beta.

I guess this is more about handicap games in general than Kaya`s implementation, but I would say that nobody should refuse to play high handicap games, as there`s a lot to learn from them. The only proviso is that playing free makes more sense than playing rated. When rating rear its ugly head, the weaker player will get anxious about winning, and the stronger player might abandon the teaching style and play in a more cut-throat way rather than showing the learner about shape, honte and sabaki.

In other words, let high handicap games be teaching ones.

As for the suggestion about closing games you don't want to play...it`s not ideal. Nobody likes being told they`re not worth playing with, which is essentially what you do when you close out a game against a weaker player. It may be true, but to say it point blank by leaving the game ain`t cool. So I`m sure we`ll all be happy when that`s addressed.
