As some of you might remember, we had a tournament a few months ago on GD for 9k-7k players which was very fun for all involved. Since that was a good experience, I was wondering if there were people interested in a tournament for the next set of ranks, i.e. 6k-4k KGS players or something like that. And being in the strongest rank didn't help me last time, so I doubt it will now  Any interest in this? |

I have been at the edge of 6k a few months ago, but my go strength has deteriorated since then, so maybe I am around 7-8k right now. But the idea is cool. If there are not enough people around 4-6k, I'd love to join in. Now that you're the organizer, you have the chance to choose the tournament format according to your liking. Any ideas? |

I'm interested to hear about this. I think. Is it on KGS? I guess there's also a DGS tournament going on... is this another there? How about OGS, which is so nicely set up for tournaments? |

I'd be interested in this. I haven't been playing much recently except for a few games on OGS, so this might be a fun way to get back into real-time go. |

The last tournament was run on KGS using a double-elimination format. If I remember correctly the initial pairings were done by matching players with close ranks and timezones. |

Individuals will be responsible for scheduling games. Advertising of game times (in this thread) is encouraged so that people may watch if they wish. - The winner will update the series standings in this thread after each game and is encouraged to post the SGF of each game for comments (also in this thread) - No use of outside resources during games (honor system will have to do) |

I was planning to start this exact thread when I hit 5k (which should be fairly soon) but I'm excited to see that things have gotten underway without me. So lets do this. We need 8 people. I'm in. If you've already expressed interest before the rules were posted please do so again so we can be sure they didn't scare you off. The last tournament was a great success. I can set the matchups after we reach critical mass. |

I would still like to be in this, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have for it in the coming weeks. If you guys just need a few more people though and can't find anyone else, put me down - worst case, I drop out and someone gets a free pass to the next round. |

Two weeks sounds just long enough for me to be able to take a break during exam period, so I'm in. At the moment I'm KGS 5k. Does the "no outside resources" rule extend to banning outside resources between games within a round? |
