Post subject:  The Dutch sure do like their bikes!
Watching the beginnings of the Tour de France, I'm impressed by the number of Dutch people who have come out to watch the race go by. While for a city stage it's not surprising to see a lot of people (especially for a short one like the prologue), the number of people lining the roads in some areas today is quite impressive. I know there are a lot of Dutch cycling fans (I see tons of them whenever the Tour comes by my area, which it does every couple of years), but it's still surprising to see so many for a flat stage.

I was there too :D

Even though I'm not a big Tour Fan or anything, I just went because it was close by (because Holland in densely populated there are always loads of (couple million) people living close by (less then 1 hour away)). There probably will not be an opportunity like this any time soon. I only watched the last 15 riders or so.
there are of course also a lot of "hard core"tour fans.

I was actually wondering if you were there, but I thought it was far enough from Delft that you wouldn't be.

It's not that impressive, to be honest, when you see them on flat roads. Though seeing how fast they go with so little effort is really something. Also, seeing the vast number of vehicles before and after them is quite stunning.
