Do you play Scrabble, Ed?

The addition of luck (tile draw) makes it a humbling game for a go player.

Funnily, just like go, personal style also plays a role. I tend to play a wide-open game, which invites opponents's bingos (plays using all seven tiles), hoping and even expecting that I'll get my share. Some players emphasize defense, closing off the board to prevent opponents' bingos and triple word scores (TWS).

Losing streaks are still frustrating, but unlike go one can blame luck.

Dude, we are missing you in NYC!

A buddy of mine up here in Canada is also a fairly good player, Matthew Tunnicliffe (currently at Nationals, though doing poorly by his own estimate). I get comments like this in my FB feed:

"Nigel drew a consonantless opening rack against me. Unfortunately he bingoed with it."

Seeing Nigel's name here amused me. I'm also a fairly terrible player, but I get the feeling that many GOOD players also feel terrible when compared to him ... he's a monster. :D
