Here's some japanese Fans
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/nihonkiin/c/0000000103/

I like Hane Naoki's calligraphy and the word he writes.

Cho's word is also nice, but i don't like his calligraphy.

Anyone knows where can I see korean pros' fans? Do they write in korean kanji or korean alphabets?

I have a Lee Changho fan that I got at a workshop. It is common for Korean people to use Chinese characters when signing their names. The fan that I have is not an exception.

I'd like to have a go master's sign on it. I have no idea about calligraphy, i can only tell, i like it or not but not whether it's good or not.

I like Lee's signature as well, but I don't know what's written on his fan.

What would a European go pro write on the fan? 'Fight'?

Good news! You can have both! The late Fujisawa Hideyuki (Shuko), one of the great players in the 20th century, was renowned for his calligraphy and had several exhibits. Here's one of his from the Rakuten site: http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/s/ ... 466294.jpg
The characters read (right to left) Daidou Mumon. or Great Way Without a Gate.

Other Go masters were considered to have good calligraphy, including Kato Masao and Kobayashi Koichi.

Kato: http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/s/ ... 466753.jpg (Wa Kou) Peaceful Light

Kobayashi: http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/s/ ... 466299.jpg (Ten Dou) Heavenly Way

I like all of these, and several others.

Yes, Shuko's Daidou Mumon is cool, I like this person and this motto, but somehow the combination is not my taste. Maybe i don't like the thick style of calligarphy, i like slimmer one? :D I don't know

My favorite go related item with calligraphy from a go master is definitely this one. It's hard to beat in terms of historical importance.

Wow, that's awesome. I looked at your other "Go Sightings"; where do you find these Japanese auctions???

I prefer Mr. Norimoto's fan. Looks like it goes well with a kimono.
