Hi folks,
I shifted a few years ago to my old passion: bridge. I studied Go for so many years with so little progress that I gave up. In bridge I can always blame luck for poor results. Not necessary, though. I play real life bridge at my local club in the small village of Abcoude and I play online bridge at the French website Funbridge. There I created a team of 6 EU members to defeat the French. In June we became champion, beating the French internationals by far.
I wanted to say good bye to my old friends and to thank everyone for the pleasant discussions I always had at 361.
Arthur

Its too sad,yes improving in Go takes a great deal of effort, its also quite frustrating one studies stil uses the wrong methods so he still cant improve despite his efforts.I can understand and wish more luck with bridge wheee you are apparently great at:).

Goodbye cyclops, may only having one eye be less of a handicap in bridge :).

I used to play bridge actively ~30 years ago, and I used OKBridge when it was very new and character-based. I wasn't aware of Funbridge, I know of OKBridge and BBO. Can you compare Funbridge to them, and are there others in the market?

Some people tried to play bridge on KGS in the English Game Room. When someone bid "4 no trump" an admin stepped in: No politics in the EGR!

Edit: It's a joke. AFAIK, that didn't really happen.

Pity.
Especially because in our small country, not many people play go.
I wish you best with bridge, but hope you return some day. You might. Nostalgia, you know.

You do know what they say though: that once in a while you 'plateau'.
Perhaps you were on one of the plateaus. And it can take some time and effort to get to the next level. Pity you value progress that much. I think of go also as a social game.

thx for all good wishes. I especially liked uberdude's humorous comment. One eye is enough in bridge ( especially if you are able to bend it behind the opponents cards ;) but my ten fingers didn't prevent me from dropping the wrong card from my hand by accident last tuesday costing many points.
