In Russian we call it "chapaev game". It can be played on a Go board. Better with plastic stones.
We just posted video about Russian Chapaev championship on famous Youtube channel (1.000.000 subscribers).
You can see the result:

Trying hard to promote Go here in Russia. And it's our new method. Our next step is to post something more related to Go game on the same channel.

By the way, if you have own channel in english, we can give rights to translate our video - pls contact me here or on KGS (ID: breakfast)

I have used a game I call "Bridge-It" with youngsters and beginners. The idea is to create an unbroken and likely many-branched line from east to west for black, north to south for white.

Lee Sedol, 9-dan, playing the same game (alkagi in Korean) on Korean TV, as I posted here yesterday.

If you search for "알까기" on Youtube, you can find tons of Korean videos, many of them are from main TV channels like SBS. Some videos can get 0.5-1.5 million views

Yes! definitely, the winner I wanted. Since it's on a 13*13 board, your go-related post should also only be on a 13*13 board since that's what they'd be more familiar with. Although I'd feel scared to sling pieces over an actual go board. Even in shogi, when they drop pieces on the board to determine who plays first, I might squirm a little, and I wonder how boards don't get damaged over time?
