When I worked I did a lot of travel in my job. I have lived in Japan, Italy, Algeria and Greece and (including those) I have been to 66 countries, some more than once. I am going to China later this month for the World Amateur and to the US for the Congress in July and August. For those of you familiar with Dilbert, I now await the arrival of Topper.

Best wishes.

Given that the thread title is written in present tense, I have to confess that my current travel is very limited. I live (roughly) in the middle of Oregon (USA), and travel regularly to my employer's location, (roughly) in the middle of California. Not terribly exciting. Which is okay with me. At this point, being a home-body suits me.

If I include past travel, the list is much more interesting, though not as interesting as many who have posted here already.

I've been to Seville and Cordoba - amazing mosque and roman bridge - am thinking of a trip to Malaga where there is sea, language schools and a go club.

China beckons also.

I know you've been to Portugal and the Netherlands as well. ;)
In Spain I've been to Matalascañas, and some other coast cities near the south. I've been to Sevilha on one of those summer trips, and passed by Barcelona on the way to Paris. I don't know the others.

I usually put out a bowl of milk and a note pad and, the next morning, there is a new joseki written down for me.

Best wishes.

Wife and I are packing for a trip to a town called Akumal on the Mexican coast, about 50 miles south of Cancun. It will include a side trip to Cozumel. We are going scuba diving, and we hope to see manta rays and maybe a whale shark or two.

Our long range plans are to visit Europe in the fall of 2012, buy a US-spec car there, drive it around for a few weeks, then have it shipped back to California. We hope to visit much of Germany, some of Sweden, Copenhagen, and Prauge. ( A Volvo C30 is currently the top candidate, a Mercedes C-class is a distant second unless they lower the price or make a hatchback. )

Hey Joaz, if you're visiting germany and are interested in meeting some go-players and play a game or two PM me ;)

While I'm in the last year of my apprenticeship I dont earn enough money to make bigger trips, but shorttrips to some of the bigger german citys like munich, cologne, hamburg or berlin are in my budget and are always fun (there are really great go clubs in hamburg and berlin!). My dream is to make some kind of backpacking tour through india, guess this would be awesome.
I've visited paris, rom etc. with my parents but I think this doesnt count as a travel I've done by myself ^_^"

It must do less than 1 kilometer per five litres of petrol. :D

There are lots of silly little differences between US and European specifications: the guages have to read miles and gallons, not kilometers and liters, the lights have to be in a certain location and with certain labels. It really has nothing to do with the drivability of the car It just keeps some bureaucrats busy.

Several major European manufacturers, most notably Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes offer deals if you pick up a US-spec car in Europe. ( It allow them to make some profit themselves that would normally go to the US dealership, it avoids some quotas I think. ) To encourage this, they offer a night or two lodging, factory tours, several weeks 0-deductable insurance for driving around Europe, sometimes even round trip airfare for two.

Despite being a Europhile, I can't put my hand on my heart and say that one is better than the other.
I was most impressed when a van ran into the back of my US hire car (Ford Tempo) and found there was neither scratch nor dent on the vehicle. Whether this is general for US cars is of course another matter.

That's not sad. Sad is - possibly - that almost all of my travel involves Go, and there's almost none of it long-distance.

Mind, I know quite a few bits of the UK better than most random visitors. You hear of sailors with a girl in every port; I have a favourite pub in most cities. :D

Could be a cat or a squirrel or even one of the little people. I never watch to see what comes.

Best wishes.
