I was recently having a conversation with my friend about intelligent people. He said that most of the intelligent people that he knew were left handed. Me being left handed was flattered but told him that what he said couldn't be true. So then he told me to ask all of my "go friends online" if they were left handed or not. Random question yes; but I want to know.

I'm actually working on using both but I'm predominantly left handed.

Hmm, but he seems to be implying all Go players are intelligent... :).

I'm left-handed when I eat, but I write right-handed. :-?

I'm not left handed... maybe that's why I'm not intelligent.

Some of the left-handed people that I know are good at sports.

Proeminently right handed, but I mouse left-handed, and can do a few other things badly switching hands.

I am left handed and because of this I tend to notice left handed students in my classes. I have to admit, if I were to divide my students into top half of the class and bottom half then the percentage of left handers in the top would always be higher. I have never done a statistical study of it (perhaps I should) but I would be willing to bet that the difference is statistically significant. Of course, the percentages in each half are still low. It would take a big sample here at GD to give any convincing evidence. And we would need to know the percentage of left handers in the population in general. Does anyone know that?

Wikipedia says: "seven to ten percent of the adult population is left-handed.[citation needed]"

So no definitive figure there.

It's not really possible to have a truly definitive figure. You could have a more reliable figure for how many people actually write left-handed (and I believe that the 10% figure is fairly reliably verified for users of the Roman alphabet) but there's so much else to laterality/handedness that it's not all that meaningful.

I am so right handed that my left hand usually just gets in the way.

I know how you feel. My right hand, arm and leg are mere appendages used to balance things.

I'm left handed.

What's interesting is that I used to hand out with a group of 7 other people ... out of the 8 of us, 4 were left handed.

Anyways, I suppose I could be considered somewhat intelligent ... I can dress myself almost all by myself! ;) (seriously, I put my shirt on inside out way too often, among other clothing mistakes)

I'm right handed, but there are a couple of things I do as left handed people; at least shooting a rifle and playing cards (although since most bridge decks have symbols on only two corners I have been forced to learn to hold the cards as right handed, I still deal with my left).

Totally right-handed. But my father is originally left-handed, so maybe I have it in my genes  I mean, I have an Tickle(random-two-hour-online-test)-IQ of 133, right, ha? =D

Everyone knows the real test for intelligence is the ability to tie your own shoelaces!
