8. Disagreements
If you have a problem with another member, or if you disagree with something that a mod or an admin has done, please do not air your grievances on the forum. That disrupts other member's enjoyment of the forum. Instead, send a PM to an admin. ( We're the ones with our names in red )

With all due respect to the admins (which is definitely a lot more than they have been receiving recently), I would prefer stricter administration, because I think the forum is getting to chaotic?

ironically, many/some of us came from usenet (rec.games.go), where there is no moderation at all and think that there's too much moderation here.

I think both Magicwand and Robert Jasiek are the type who pick fights and will hardly concede their opinions.

I have made the executive decision of unlocking it again for now, and we will discuss in the administrative sections the best way forward for the thread. In the meantime, your actions are yours to choose, although I'd rather not lose a contributing member. One thing we can't do is delete either your account or your posts, so if you do leave, they'll still be there in their entirety. At least you can't accuse us of too much selective pruning

Hanekomu, bleib doch bitte. Perhaps we can all understand that there are many well-minded people on this planet who are not always able to express their well-mindedness … yet. I don’t want to indulge into the topic itself, only say this: Please stay, Hanekomu. The majority of users here are not bullies. And occasionally I read ancient posts of some 1D10T somewhere on the ’net—and then realize that I was that 1D10T. So, people (i.e. we all) may change (if only, like myself, to another flavour of 1D10T ). Like Bob Dylan sang “Tempora mutantur et nos mutamur in illis.”—“The times, they are a-changing, and we change in/through them”. And since everything is connected to everything, we all take part in all those changes. That’s no excuse, but a way to understanding, and it may show us other ways to react than simply being robots that kick back.

When there are problems, we prefer to have some concensus on how to solve them. And achieving that takes time because we admins/mods have real lives. So try to be patient. When you can't be patient, use a PM.

My theory is that now that they've locked horns in their most public display yet, everyone is getting sucked into a vortex of destruction. And now the onus is on the admins to fix it. As Joaz has noted above, there is a rule specifically tailored to this exact kind of situation. I personally have not seen other problems of this type and believe the admins are doing an acceptable job. After all, this is a very mild-mannered forum as they come. Combine that with the fact that they are regular human beings who suddenly log on to a witch hunt of sorts... Admins have two kinds of powers: regular admin-like authority and actual mod actions. I for one believe we should lay down our egos and grievances, act like the calm and respectful community we've all nurtured and let Robert and Magicwand duke it out with the admins in private. No one wants any of them to have to make a rash decision the whole community might regret (admins included) under pressure and in the midst of all this confusion.
