Hello everyone! I would like to announce the opening of the Multilingual Go Book Project. In its beginning the project already provides for free a book about Go that is written for beginners and kyu players. The book is provided in two languages and it is 192 pages long and contains over 700 diagrams, explained with as much detail as possible. I do not want to bore you with details, everything is explained at the project's website were you can download the books. It would be delightful if you could help in any way to translate the book in MORE languages, so that we can help promote Go in more countries. https://www.gobook.eu/ I hope you will find it useful, H. Kapolos (Jeth Orensin) ![]() |

I am very happy to have already received emails from people wanting to help with the translation ![]() The plan for the other translations is for the content to be issued and uploaded per chapter. That way players from other countries will have a slightly steady input of content and if/when all chapters are translated then they can be issued all together, like the rest. I think that idea also helps the translators, since they will be able to make things at their own pace and leisure ![]() Since the diagrams are the same in each version, only the text needs to be translated and I was thinking about having a shared platform where all the translators could edit the texts they wanted. I have not determined in which way this will be achieved yet (since I was focused on launching the project), but I will see what that platform will be. I imagine that having the english text on on the left and anyone being able to right the translation on the right, is going to work well, and in that way noone will make duplicate work. I will gather the names of the people interested to help and send them all another e-mail in January to inform them about the process. |

The second chapter has been uploaded for the Brazilian Portuguese and the translation is coming along nicely. In addition to that **the whole website** has been translated to Brazilian Portuguese, all thanks to the awesome translating work of @lucasfelix . In the next month I will also be uploading some improvements and corrections for the completed versions of the book (in English and in Greek) You can download the books and chapters for all versions and read the site in Brazilian Portuguese here: https://porbr.gobook.eu/ As always if anyone is keen to help translating the book to his own native language, just send me a message and we can get things rolling immediately. Be well! ![]() |

I tried a first draft at the start of chapter 1 introduction in French : I didn't proof read it at all, and some formulations are still a little rough. I'm not sure how long I'll go at it, but I guess I'll try to translate chapter 1 (no warranty is expressed or implied of the continuation of this translation ![]() |

Tryss' translation, proofread. I didn't compare much with the original text, mainly corrected spelling mistakes and changed a few words when the meaning of a sentence was unclear or when a word looked obviously wrong. |

Chapter 1 and chapter 2 are ready and have been uploaded to the website, due to the amazing work of the translators (especially Jean-Louis Tu who single-handedly translated chapter 2 and he is half-way through chapter 3 by now!). Thank you everyone for your help ![]() |

Chapter 3 and 4 for French are ready and have been uploaded to the project's webpage. ![]() With these 62 pages added, we have reached 100 pages of content in French and Jean-Louis Tu is still working wonders on the translation, as we are heading for the next chapter. |

Post subject: | Re: the Multilingual Go Book Project begins! - French added! |
Last time we had reached the end of chapter 4 (page 100) Instead of going a chapter per week, we decided for the next update to prepare everything and provide a fully translated book and website for the French language. ![]() Frankly, after launching the project in December I couldn’t even dream of a complete version being added in so soon, but it did, proving once again that the idea of making this project was not far-fetched. We can do this, as a community, together. As I mentioned earlier, the website has been completely translated in French https://fr.gobook.eu/ and, as always, you can download the book for free. You are always welcome to contribute in any way you can, especially if you want to help with the translation of the book in your own language. I’d be happy to hear from you. Be well! |
