https://eurogofed.org/1st-china-europe-match/ There's an upcoming daily online tournament, between EGF (Ama and Pro) and Chinese 6d-7d. From March 31, onward. Teams: Europe: Ougier (FR, 4d), Drean-Guenaizia (FR, 6d), Chernykh (RU, 6d), Pop (ROM, 7d), Popdera (CZ, 7d), Dinerchtein (RU, 3p), Jabarin (IL, 2p), Frejlak (PL, 7d), Kachanovskyi (UK, 2p), Surma (PL, 2p). China: Song Yiwen (6d), Li Xingtong (6d), Shen Ao (6d), Yu Suhao (6d), Xu Yidi (6d), Tang Chongzhe (6d), Ma Tianfang (7d), Wang Chen (7d), Bai Baoxiang (7d), Hu Yuqing (7d) Format is equivalent to the Transatlantic last year. 60m + 5*60s. My question is, how am I going to find the games on YIKE ? Also, I'm glad a previous European professional was invited, this time. Take care. |

Erm... does anyone know how to get the sgf from that server? Thanks UPDATE: I haven't found a place on the server, but EGF's website does publish them, at the Pairings/Results page. |

First game, Ariane Ougier 4d vs. Song Yiwen 6d. Sadly, not the version with the comments in English. Sorry. I hope that will become available.

Alex's opening 'misclicks' made me chuckle. In his commentary on the European Pro League last weekend Ilya Shikshin (who isn't on the team) said he thought Europe would get 5 wins: once we get to the pros (Ali Jabarin next up) he thought they could beat the Chinese players up to number 6 but that their 5th player (Tang Chongzhe 6d, see https://eurogofed.org/1st-china-europe- ... china.html) was really strong. Yu Suhao 6d who is currently on 5 wins came 13th in the 2019 Wanbao Cup. Tang won it in 2016. So we probably won't get to see the 4 titans of Ma/Wang/Hu/Bai. |

The chinese-6d-range is quite something. Is 7-dan not normally attainable, is 5-dan an undesirable rank or how does this happen? ^^ |

In wolfking's coverage of the Chinese go Congress I think he mentioned there were a few awarded. Though I'm a bit surprised neither winning the Wanbao nor Chen Yi cup gor Tang one. But I don't know the relative importance of them, but had heard of Wanbao before. And Chen Yi was a promoter of Go back in Mao's time who supported Nie Weiping iirc. |
