I think we had a thread that mentioned this movie before (it's been out a while), but just for anyone who's only now heard of it; this movie is not about the game of go. It is a sort of biographical drama of Go Seigen's (spoiler: troubled) life. The director is good at using nature in some scenes.

I was told that the movie was just bad

I think bad is a harsh word. The director had really good use of nature in some scenes! One criticism I'd levy is that he missed his demographic. People who will want to see this movie will be go enthusiasts, and Go could just as well have been a master chef in this movie, who moved to Japan because only there was his cooking specialty extremely sought after and lauded. Watch this movie for insight into Go Seigen's personal life (and trials).

Anyone else notice that the position on the board in the first picture is after move 157 has been played in game one of the Kamakura Jubango?

No, but now that you mention it, the last picture also appears to be that same game, albeit after move 47.
