Played on tygem as 11k.
I usually don't take blitz seriously, but since it was a relatively close game, I'd like to see if there's any bad habit I should get rid of. (other than not play blitz...)

Re: tygem
oh, thanks for pointing out moves 50-52, I tend to do that very often!
A question though, on move 32 and 98, can we talk about broken shape when I just have 2 live groups separated? I think they are broken shapes when the groups are weak and you try to connect them. Here I didn't care about connecting, they're alive and I don't need to worry about the corner (m32) or the side (m98)
I this case I see these moves as securing points rather making connections and let the opponent take the territory. B slides between 2 live groups but he is not making points.
I understand the broken shape theory, but in this case it doesn't seem to make sense.
Thanks for the help.

Good questions. You are confusing cuts with broken shapes.sefo wrote:A question though, on move 32 and 98...

Broken shape is not about separating live or weak groups (although it can do that).sefo wrote:can we talk about broken shape when I just have 2 live groups separated?
I think they are broken shapes when the groups are weak and you try to connect them.
Broken shapes are shape problems, not (necessarily) life-and-death problems (which is the point about cutting weak groups).
For the broken shape of
If it was the upper left corner that you wanted (which it was),
then it was
The broken shape of
if
and suddenly your G16 group went from a source of strength (the wall)
to a potential weak group. This swing (from strength to weakness) is huge --
this is the damage of the broken shape.
To quote an L19 frequent contributor shapenaji,
For
The
who was weak and you were attacking B, trying to make B heavy.
But here, it's the R6 W group that was weak, and the broken shape just hurt yourself more.
Instead of
It's exact opposite: after the broken shapes in both cases, sefo wrote:they're alive and I don't need to worry about the corner () or the side (

you DO have to worry about the upper left corner and also your weak H16 and R6 groups![/hide]

Re: tygem
Not a bad game. The most remarkable thing about it is how long big plays on the left side went unnoticed by both of you.
PS: I glanced at Ed's comments. I like his move 24 even better than mine.
