The largest prime found thus far has just made the announcement rounds: it is 17 million digits long. "The newest find is 2 to the power of 57,885,161 minus 1." Can anyone come up with a simple comparison of that number and some number related to go?
Wouldn't 17 million digits be 10^17 (10 to the power of 17)?
At the Go and Mathematics wikipedia page it lists the longest theoretical go game at 10^10^171 moves. That's quite a bit bigger than 10^17.
Maximum legal game positions on a 9x9 board is estimated to be over 4x10^38.
Just a fun exercise.
