But, but, but... what about my favorite platform? Surely it's better than the one I didn't spend money on! Because I am smart. And folks who bought the other are stupid.

Funny thread. Simple answer.

Sorry but your palmpilot is not going to make the grade.

Name them. A lot.
Proof otherwise it's just an illusion.

You want to use pirated software? No jailbreak required. Google it.

Alejo, you seem to be a little naive in your believe in "Google's better world". It's just cheaper. Cheaper does not mean better in any language. Does it mean in Spanish? ;)

Last time when I checked Go apps for android they were simply terrible on my phone. I tried a lot of them and they were a disaster. It was half a year ago, so maybe something has changed since then, but it's highly probably that nothing has changed at all.
It's really simple - because of high quality go apps there is no better option than iOS for Go player. Not because of some idiotic apple logo. Apps!

Let see where is better choice and more apps:
Tsumego/Yose/Joseki apps - iOS, general high quality Go apps - iOS, Go servers - iOS (android means waiting forever: Tetsuki showed up after 3 years, WBaduk after over two years, English Tygem client- not available yet, and yes I use KGS on iPad, so I have every go server available on iOS).
I would love to buy an android tablet for 99€/$/£ and get same apps as on iOS. But since iOS is a priority for go developers I will use iOS. Same thing with desktop - I like Linux, but because of crappy apps on it I don't use it, I must use Windows instead.
There is not any ideology or branding magic behind "superiority" of Apple products - just apps.

Are you the average person with an Android tablet though? In terms of income, propensity to spend money on digital goods etc.

I think so, but who knows. :)

Take a look at buying pattern surveys. ;)

My mistake, my knowledge on the iphone/ipad piracy world is very little.

No, cheaper obviously doesn't mean better. But I certainly believe that Google's policies are better than Apple's, though the "don't be evil" was forgotten long ago. So, yes, I'm much in favor of Android than iphone/ipad.
I assume we could discuss this for ages and others would join us in the longest offtopic of the forum, but for the sake of the post, I invite you to talk this through private messages.

However, as I stated on one of my posts above, Android is behind iphone when it comes to Go apps. Hands down. There is no arguing right now. I expect this to follow the same trend we're seeing lately, which is turning the apps from both systems are the same level or even switching the patterns.

Gave into the temptation and bought the Pipo M6 with internal 3G. Happy to report that it works with Go World Magazine pdfs loaded onto a 32G microSD card and the pdf reads very crisp. The screen is exactly the same resolution as the iPad with Retina screen with 24bit color. A very good value tablet which I have switched via the settings to work in English interface. Check the specs yourself via Google if you want to see why I was interested in this model. So far I am quite happy to use this device to read my Go World Magazine pdfs. And now I'm going to try flashing it with a custom ROM to see if I can get even better performance :)
There is one thing which really annoys me about this tablet though. You have to use the 9V 2.5A 2.5mm power charger supplied with it. You can't charge via USB connection cables.
