Five interesting pro games

Post by macelee »

I am visiting Beijing, getting the latest issue of the Weiqi Tiandi magazine, which contains an article talking about the five most entertaining games of 2013 so far. Some of these games are already well-known.

Game 1: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/35006/264

W264, a brilliant move, formed a ko fight. Combined with the existing double-ko, it created a very interesting situation. A quadrupal ko was ignored because white found a way to win. Some technical details can be found at http://www.go4go.net/go/shi_yue_na_hyun_double_ko

Game 2: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/34552

This is the famous "eternal life" game.

Game 3: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/34017/118

White used a broken ladder to cut off and eventually capture a big group.

Game 4: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/33963/171

Black wanted to capture a big dragon, but he had to do a lot of preparation before starting the attack.

Game 5: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/33157/228

Probably one of the most surprising moves. When fighting a game-deciding half-point ko, W228 is a brilliant tesuji to create additional ko threats needed for white to win the ko fight. Please verify that no matter how black responds 3 additional ko threats can be created.
