If you do not believe me, just take this game as a reminder^^. And while you're at it, how can I avoid the mess for black after move 12? Never saw a sequence like that.... My variation shows my bet of how to handle it.

I like your second guess of F4 much more than the line you played. Your C6/D6/E6 stones are heavy; your C10 stone is light. Therefore, it seems obvious that move 13 should reinforce the heavy ones and let the light one fend for itself. ( Easy to say after the fact :) )

He still has problems in the line that you played if you play 19 at E10. :rambo:

A couple of thoughts on the opening fight. :)

Edit: :b33:. Simply extend to 39. It is not worth it to save the center stones now.

And you had yet one more chance to fend off disaster with move 21 at B8. ( It looks weak at first glance, but because he has no ko threats, it works for you. )

There is a common theme in some of the dubious moves that you made on the left side: you seem unwilling to let light stones live or die on their own. If you had been willing to do so, you probably would have played 13 at F4, move 21 as suggested above, and Bill's improvement at move 33. In each instance, you tried to hold on to a stone that probably should have been abandoned, or at least temporarily ignored.
