Not finished game.

Post by Krama »

I am playing as white (against black crazy stone) and I found myself confused. This happens in my games usually, that I simply don't have any idea how to continue.

Few moves pop into my mind however I can't calculate them well so I start looking around the board and I pretty much don't know what to do.

Any comments on how to continue? Or perhaps comments on my opening?

:w38: bad perhaps? No idea why I played this move, for some reason it seemed good.

Thank you.

1. How do you assess the fight at the top as it stands? Would you move there now?
2. 38 is a good place to make a comment. Why did it strike you as bad when you reviewed it? What would you play instead and why?

Although there are a few comments to make about the opening, I wouldn't care too much about it. Anyway Bill and others are better placed to discuss those parts (and all parts).

Cheers

- :w14: is a big move, but you allow B to connect up nicely at P5.
How about o15 kosumi first ?

Why :w26: ? P12 is a big move.

- :w36: I wonder if N13 is bigger.

Did you notice your problem at D5 ?

If you tenuki the top pincer once (unusual but I suppose ok) then fighting spirit says you should tenuki a second time too, or at least quickly try to make it so black can't cleanly get too much and then take sente to play lower right (after l17 looks a good time). If you keep on answering you will be getting hassled in a 3 against 1 fight and black will easily gain more there than the one move you got against his lower right corner.

My first thought is regarding :w14:: Why tenuki? Is the bottom right really that urgent? And if the bottom right is, why not approach it first or ignore black's upper-right response?

I played :w14: and expected a fight at top which I did somehow manage but I thought the stone at q5 would help me if I needed to run with the top group. Also if I ended in sente I could then take a nice profit with a :w14: follow-up.

Also I about d5 black can take a part of it in gote and I don't think it is that big.. however black can get split with a tesuji if he tries to cut all of it (I sacrifice some stones) then I can split attack 2 of blacks groups at once and I thought it would be good for me.
