Hello everyone, it happened a few times that i was insulted on KGS. Some people called me "A##ho#e" or even "little piece of sh#t". Every time I reported it to an admin but never something happened. They only said that i should ignore such people.
Cause this I wanted to ask you if and why someone of you was banned.

Re: Insults on KGS
I have played on KGS off and on for 10 years, and for almost another 10 on IGS and elsewhere before that. No one has ever insulted me. So I can't help but feel there is more to your story than you have disclosed so far. Perhaps to put it in the proper perspective you should also include the chat that preceded you being insulted.

Re: Insults on KGS
About 5 years ago (I haven't played much since then but getting back in to it) in my 1st KGS game I rated myself 20kyu but I was probably more like 14kyu. I had to guess at my rating and I guessed too low because I had played almost no games, purely doing tsumego and reading books. I went against a sandbagger who thought I was sandbagging, and they insulted me and suddenly played excellent Go in the endgame and killed most of my groups. It was a heart-thumping moment but not in a good way.
Kind of ironic, a sandbagger who insults another person and then kills them because they thought they were sandbagging.
But it shouldn't be a reason not to play on KGS, I think it's great. Just some people, well, you know.

Ez4u:
I've played on igs for a year - and been insulted a handful of times (usually just after they loose). It's not a big problem but I wouldn't say it never happens around 10k (and surprisingly frequent given that I'd guess I'd play native English speakers fairly rarely). I guess dans are just more polite.

I stand corrected (and baffled, and disappointed

Don't be disappointed:
Low ranked players swear more than higher ranked players - clearly playing go has a civilizing effect
( or more likely over 10 years there's been a shift in the online go playing population to younger (native English speaking) players who cuss a bit - eventually they will adopt a more reserved philosophical approach to loosing in the traditional style. http://en.m.wikisource.org/wiki/File:Sato_Tadanobu_with_a_goban.jpeg)

Re: Insults on KGS
Just remember, it could be a lot worse (e.g., try playing Call of Duty online and listen to what the 12-year-olds have to say about your mother).

So true
But, on a more serious note, KGS admins should be banning or suspending people who continually swear at/insult others, not brushing them off. If it's a constant problem you're having you should probably tell a different admin.

We do pay attention to such language. Report it to an admin if you see it. Or write to the admin mailbox: admin@gokgs.com
But note that we also look at the circumstances behind the insults, if you've said (edit: or done) anything recently that you'd prefer other people don't see.

Insult seems to be a proper move in some situation.
