My first two KGS games

Post by tekesta »

Today I played my 2 first KGS games under the account "FanXiping". It was my first time in a long time on this server, so I did not know what to expect. I had difficulty finding human players since I had only a question mark to indicate my rank (!), so I had to settle for playing with a bot. Below are the 2 games. Much obliged in advance for your comments.

Hi tekesta,

In game 2, I feel the 11-12 exchange is not good :
- it makes white much more stronger in this area (before 12 his extension could be invaded, not anymore once 12 is played), P8 or O16 may be possible instead
- the two b stones are actually quite weak and w can reduce b moyo by attacking them so I think tenuki here is not appealing (jumping to O10 might be the local good move). The same applies to :b17:. Jumping to O16 and making the corner group strong means you will only have to care about the two stones. By playing 17 at R12, b gives himself two weak groups to manage since this move isn't enough to make two eyes.

:b21: should be something like O16 I think. Splitting w in two groups and getting your stones out will put more pressure on w on both sides and make it easier for your group to live.
