Or do they?
I have this vague memory that someone took a series of pro games and analyzed how many corners played out joseki sequences. If I'm not misremembering, the conclusion was that it was a little bit less than 2 per game.
Does anyone else remember this and have a clue on how to find it?
Pros average less than 2 josekis per game

I think you have to define joseki. There could be justification for saying that any corner sequence played by a pro is joseki.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

I agree with DrStraw. This is hard to concretely analyze, because:
1. There are thousands of josekis.
2. Some "joseki" are not "joseki", depending on the board position.
3. In a given situation, what the pro plays might very well be "joseki", for that position, even though it's not joseki on an even board.
4. Joseki often comes from pros, so it's almost joseki by definition, unless they've made a mistake.

I agree.DrStraw wrote:I think you have to define joseki.
What joseki are is a tough topic, but I think this is clearly not the right definition.DrStraw wrote:There could be justification for saying that any corner sequence played by a pro is joseki.
However, what I actually care about is: did someone try to answer this question, and how do I find that post?
