Hey

I've been on a break from Go for some months. First game in a while now. So it wasn't an optimal one, but I think it was a nice one to get back in the game!
In the end I lost by 4.5 points, and I see several moments where things went wrong.
I was black.

Hoping to see some additional insights to help improve my game and to allow me to get back in shape after my hiatus!

My take:
- 51 & 53 were gut moves, I played on instinct.
- I think 63 was wrong. I should attach on top.
- I was blundering slightly between 113 and 125 I believe. I was unable to understand or read the situation, probably because it's been so long since I've had to read in a go game. Practice will make this ability come back better.
- 183 should be at S15, no doubt.
- 195 was a concentration mistake. I thought it'd end up being sente, because white needed to defend afterwards. Turns out I was wrong and silly gote play :) Luckily 198 gave me the ball back.
- 242 was a clever move and probably the winning move. Clever ko fight I never saw coming.

I am wondering about :b17:. The usual 3-3 invasion of a large hoshi shimari is

I am not sure if it still applies because of the D7 :white: stone, but in your game, what would be your response if :w20: was at A4?

Other remark: :black: 129 looks like a wasted move.

Is 242 really clever? If white cuts with 242 instead, it's already ko. All I see from 242 is that it wastes a threat before the ko begins. 241 looks like a silly mistake from being rusty.

I was exploring a few of the moves in your game, and one missed move in the fuseki really jumps out when analyzing with Lizzie. Following :w6:, Lizzie thinks you should have continued by first attaching at C17. It's not always the preferred move as it is for :b7:, but from there onwards, it often shows up as Lizzie's preferred move. Similarly, for white the attachment at C15 keeps coming up because Lizzie thinks that white can profit from attacking it.

I also was wondering if :b11: were too early, but it seems not. It's not Lizzie's first choice (she likes O3), but it has virtually the same winning percentage. Although Lizzie prefer's jlt's joseki approach to yours ;-).

Some thoughts. :)

Thanks for the replies & comments. They were helpful to me. Especially giving atari in the 3-3 invasion of the large enclosure is interesting.

You might have been able to win that ko. A9 and T4 are ko threats ( although A9 is the one you use only when you know that it will win the ko. )

Move 249 at H4 instead of J4 gives you an additional ko threat.

IOW, you had three more threats.

EDIT: T14 may be one also, but it is more complicated than I care to consider at the moment.
