OptiX versus CUDA or OpenCL

Post by RobertJasiek »

igorslab has results for Blender, which is said to measure pure computing GPU performance with OptiX, CUDA or OpenGL:

Code: Select all

Blender RTX 2.9 BMW

Card abs 1/rel

RTX 3090 OptiX 10.72 3.71
RTX 3080 OptiX 12.54 3.18
RTX 2080 Super OptiX 26.43 1.51
RTX 2080 TI CUDA 39.82 1
AMD RX 5700XT OpenCL 88.87 0.45

Blender RTX 2.9 Fishy Kat

RTX 3090 OptiX 18.41 1.81
RTX 3080 OptiX 20.77 1.61
RTX 2080 TI OptiX 33.45 1
RTX 2080 Super OptiX 39.95 0.84
RTX 2080 TI CUDA 74.12 0.45
AMD RX 5700XT OpenCL 126.23 0.26

Blender igoBot Rendering CUDA / OpenCL

RTX 3090 81.58 2.50
RTX 3080 103.66 1,97
RTX 2080 TI 203.71 1
RTX 2080 Super 218.20 0.93
AMD RX 5700XT 338.52 0.60
Besides the varying hardware, OptiX versus CUDA or OpenCL make a great difference. Why? What does this mean for go AI?
