New Logo

Post by Javaness2 »

Do you think the IGF should get a new logo? The current one was basically ripped straight from the EGF logo, I have some doubts as to whether it's actually official or not.
If you look at the logos here http://www.worldmindgames.net/en/ , I'd say the best one belonged to FIDE and the worst one was the Draughts logo. The IGF one isn't terrible, but it's a bit amateur looking. Too cluttered.

Feel free to attach your new designs :)

While you are right about the logo being unoriginal and not so pretty, I think there are several other (much more urgent) issues they should put their minds on right now.

Unified ruleset/ratings come to my mind...

Unified rulesets are pretty useless in my opinion. It costs a considerable amount of money to have 'delegates' travel to 'world' rule conferences and debate their structure.
A unified ruleset will not help
1. Promote the game
2. Increase the ease of teaching
3. Increase the ease of playing international events

International ratings might be more interesting, but unless there is a genuine pressing need for them, they won't come into being.

I actually like the draughts federation logo. It's got a pretty nice 90's vibe to it. Wonderful nostalgia!
My name is Gijs, from Utrecht, NL.

When in doubt, play the most aggressive move
