I'm a friend of the original blogger (I posted it to reddit/baduk, I guess freegame found it there). I'll ask

I found it on reddit:
translation also from reddit:
Last day of 2011 and I'm flying again to Korea. This time via Dubai, and in a monster flying machine: the Airbus 380, seat 55C. Just in the middle of the plane (88 rows!). I just happen to look through the on-board video games and I find this:

I hope A-380s avionics are better than this game, "In-flight Go". I played against the machines giving 9 stones and almost ate the whole board. In any case, it's nice to see Airbus engineers including Go among their games.

Re: Go in airbus A380
If I remember correctly, an ANA flight between NRT and JFK had go as one of the games available as well. It was a newly remodeled airplane with hardback seats and a game system for every coach seat.
I played against the computer and it was super weak. Unfortunately, I was not with anyone else who played go and sitting around in a waiting area for hours thinking someone else on the plane might play seemed pointless.
