:w12: is not a mistake. In fact, after the high black response (O16), you will find it more often than the slide, because Black's jump to P12 would threaten O14 (in addition to helping the moyo below).

The slide has been played, though. It is usually followed by something like this:

With the high black response, this is more usual, similar to the game:

:b2: is also often played as the kick at 'k', whereupon White would descend to 'd'.

Note that Black's choice of :bc: produces quite different results from the keima response (O17).

I just won the second game with sodesune, giving us a 1-1 tie. He's going on vacation, so we will resume the 27th. It was another close game, and a fun one too. Sodesune, maybe you can post the game here for comments (I don't have access right now.

Thanks Harleqin for the explanations. I still think Black is so much better off locally.

Here is the game with my comments:

W32 jumped out at me. That looks like endgame at best. I don't think white really has a great move in the area.

After some thought, I'm afraid that I have to drop out of this tournament. Between running the NY go center and getting ready to go back to school, I'll just be too busy to participate and schedule matches. Sorry, and good luck to そですね in the matches going forward!

Uh, that is sad to hear : (
I think you are just the perfect opponent for me. A little bit stronger, I assume so that I have to push my limits to beat you. I had a lot of fun in our games!

Thank you!

Hi guys,

I thought I should give you an update on Padic vs. Nikolas73. Padic currently leads the series 2-1, but... he has not logged in to KGS since July 5 (one month ago) - 45 minutes after I missed our game (my fault, I confused the times). He has not posted on L19 since June - to be honest I am a little worried. Has anybody seen him?

I'm not sure how we should proceed here - I will keep waiting for now... what is the current standing in Redundant vs. Aphelion?

Right now we're 2-2, and trying to schedule the final game before I leave for a trip to Japan from August 10 to August 20.
