I've a mixed feeling on using internet during lunch break (regardless of the content he posted). But this might be the last year they're allowed to do so due to AI outbreaks, so enjoy it while it lasted...

Next challenger in A League: Shi Yue.

Ke Jie's winning streak ends with a loss to Shi Yue in game 23, who made a too big centre. I wonder if it was related to playing those handicap games, maybe they made him complacent.

B125 seems the losing move?

That tenuki did surprise me (I was thinking he might play hanging connection in the centre). I suppose he didn't want white to hane there to squeeze in sente and if white is kind enough to answer then it's a double sente, but it does seem rather obvious that the centre is bigger. Maybe he counted he lost that way so bet the game on Shi answering his move. Or does that hanging connection move die anyway if he wants to answer the hane on left side? Once he cuts and starts the semeai he loses by 1 liberty it seems he is sacrificing his centre group, or was that a blunder?

Actually is black so far behind he needs to resign? I just played out a quick yose (error to pro play maybe +/- 5 points) and it still seems close enough to not give up, especially if a big win streak is on the line.
Edit: a not so quick yose and maybe white is 4 points or so ahead which is a lot for pros.

More like what he had for breakfast and the position of the stars.

2nd wins in a row for Ke jie against Li Qincheng9p. https://k2ss.info/igo/cn/lc/
I know 2 wins are pretty small compare the 22 but hope to see the same thing hahaha

Park Junghwan is chasing hard after Ke Jie with his own 10-game winning streak. Very much look forward to their upcoming Mlily match.

In the CCTV cup (blitz TV tournament) Ke Jie beat Zhou Hexi 6d, then Xie He 9d (opening at viewtopic.php?p=222019#p222019), then one of [Gu Li, Mao Ruilong, Zhao Chenyu, Dong Mengcheng], then Jiang Weijie 9d but lost to not-so-famous Zhang Tao 5d. Looks to me like he made a massive reading blunder (played a clamp on premise Zhang couldn't resist and poke through but he could) and maybe got angry and overplayed trying to catch up afterwards but Zhang played sharply to cut his scraggly group with lots of kosumi connections and kill to win by loads. I wonder if that's a weakness of this early invade 3-3 and wedge style Ke is playing a lot: it's quite greedy and thin so you need to be careful with your groups and in a slow game he can do that, but perhaps in a fast game a thicker style is a safer way to play? (Of course it could also be true that the opponent needs a lot of time to figure out how to effectively exploit the thinness).

Is Zhang Tao the pro who just won the Open Tournament at EGC with a perfect score?

I think so yeah. At least that was also a Zhang Tao 5p

Interesting, maybe not-so not-so-famous in Europe then ;-) (I was on holiday for the EGC 2nd week so unaware of what was going on in the Open now that it is separate from European Championship). He's #95 on goratings.org at 3320 so similar to Yulin Tong who won a few years ago. Here's some of his games from the EGC:

vs Michael Chen 7d from USA

vs Dominik Boviz 6d from Hungary

vs Mateusz Surma 1p from Poland

P.S. It's not about Ke Jie, but Zhang Tao went on to win the CCTV cup, beating Li Xunahao 6p in the final with an early 3-3 which he then sacrificed (once he got a cheeky peep) and later made a big moyo and then killed a big group when it threatened to break into the moyo and he allowed it and took the 2nd eye.
