In Germany, if you say that you play Go, many people will blurt out: “Japanese board game with two characters” (because they have seen this in crossword puzzles).

Actually, EdLee, these here have been used in Go events for kids in Germany long before we knew M&Ms, and even before we knew them as “Smarties”:
