Re: Magicwand's Study Journal
I thought you wanted a dialogue. I didn't want my comments to be a criticism or a value statement. I'm sure you are stronger than me. I just offered a review, like you asked. It would be interesting to see where we agree and disagree. Of course I make mistakes in games, which I later spot myself.

OK - good to know. I don't think I can currently engage in a correspondence game and I don't want to frustrate your time and effort. Thanks for the invitation.

Re: Magicwand's Study Journal
F14 in the game ('a' below) seems too close to C10 and pushes White from behind. Cutting at the marked point instead is possible. The continuation to 10 below appeared a couple of times in the 1930's.
Instead of 'a' in the game, White may have been better off with a soft approach in the upper right and leave the left for later.
If White continues on the left, is something like 1 better than 'a'? White has aji at the 'b' points and Black's strong wall at the top does not have eyes if it gets cut off in the fighting.

first thought on the move above... Overplay. Too deep.
only thing white can achieve is gote life and hurting everywhere. IMO.
I really dont have to kill white to win. so i think bad for black.

17: play on top? you can attach here if he invades, right now you don't need it
25: too early? I'd like to play on the top or the right
47: slow, i want to play on the top.
49: i think his move is really slow and i don't want to answer it
53: i think extend other side is OK
I prefer White after 70, but 82 is slow. If 82 is on the right side I think Black has a hard game.

17: you might be right but i think it can be played.
25: hum....i gave some time for this move and will disagree. i have seen professionals play such move early. i could not find the flow of the game and this was one way to find flow IMO.
47: you might be right but this is too big for me to not play there.
49: agree.
53: ..... no comment on this..
again thank you.
please see if i changed your mind on 25
