Final: DeepZen vs CGI. The fighting over Zen's reduction of CGI's moyo was the focus of this game. Zen allowed itself to get cut and then settled the lower half and ran out with the top, only to sacrifice a large part of it for a some lower left territory. More fighting followed but Zen held on to a decent chunk of the top side without anything dying. But perhaps black 203 was a mistake in a leading position and it should have played the big reverse sente block at a7? Perhaps this was due to incorrectly thinking it was larger than it really based on the follow-up cut of 233 capturing 3 stones when it fact it didn't due to a snapback?

What surprised me the most (but may not for other people) is Kong Jie choose CGI as his partner tomorrow. I thought he gonna choose FineArt for sure even if it placed the third.

For what it's worth. I pay what it's worth to me :-)

According to an interview, the hardware used by DeepZenGo is:
CPU: Xeon E5-2643 v4 (3.4GHz, 6 Cores) x2
GPU: NVIDIA Titan XP x4

Compared to the version against Cho Chikun last year, the current version of DeepZenGo uses stronger GPUs and weaker CPUs.

Thank you Isla.

DeepZenGo won the final game, against Kong Jie + CGI.

Well as noted below, the hardware required pretty significant. That would be a very powerful "workstation" class machine. So it is not just a matter of what you might be charged for the software but what you would have to pay to get a machine like that put together.

Cannot help but wondering whether taking white has an advantage with komi 7.5, given that four of the five games DeepZenGo, CGI and FineArt played between each other were won by white, with the only exception being the one FineArt won against DeepZenGo in the last preliminary round.

There is white advantage for sure. Even in Japanese rule with komi 6.5 DeepZenGo is still favor white.

My machine is not too bad compared to the one used in the competition. :geek:

I use the current commercial version of Zenith Go for reviewing games. Looking forward to an updated release of Deep Zen. :ugeek:
