Yes, really. Displays are generally not calibrated to some absolute universal standard.
( An exception: graphics professionals who have their displays professionally calibrated, because their livelihood depends on it. )

Not to mention every organism's different light receptor cells and neurons. :)

In any case, neither of us sees the stated grey.

I just noticed that the example game has an opening that looks rather like a Catchup opening. I wonder if you think that's coincidence, a result of you playing/inventing Catchup in the past, or indicative of a connection?

Heh. Yep. I'm the inventor of Catchup.
