I was surprised to see "16/09/2010" instead of "Stardate 20100916".

too true, I thought it did look Star Trek like. But I have noted a number of players like Star Trek, might be a very effective advertisement.

Here is a sample poster I did for the club. Our Club business cards are located in the Bowl... Yes it is a bit rough but it was eye catching. I bought some felt circles that are used for furniture for future posters. It will give the stones an upraised look.

I realize this thread is old but I thought I'd add a shot of the posters I just finished. The kids are students of the high school I work and the woman is my wife. I don't own the rights to some of the things in the background but thought I'd share regardless. I might be able to do some changes to get it completely free use if there's enough interest. All in photoshop with a single PSD.

I
love those posters, Bahkana, and it would indeed be very nice to have them totally “free” of any copyright issues. Count me in for “interest”
I assume “all in photoshop” means that you have everything nicely separated in layers so that everybody pshop-savvy could adapt it to their own local needs … ? Anyway — really nice work!
Greetings, Tom

Thanks goTony and Bonobo.
- Bonobo, yes it is all completely separated. I'll see if I can throw together an alternative background and get the ok from the students this week. The font is Urban Stone by Roland Huse

Beautiful posters. The "try the worlds hardest strategy game" is a bit of a turn off for me, personally, but as you say, some people are attracted to such a challenge. Others, though, might just appreciate its simplicity and beauty, and that you don't have to master it to still have fun.

Conclusion of this study is being hard is a turn-off for many. Of course if your target audience is geeky university students it's more likely to be a turn-on.

Very good read. I am mainly trying to appeal to the geeky gamer type who go for hard games as with this small of a district almost all of the general students are in a handful of sports/clubs already. I'll make some alternate texts for the final file which will focus more on the social fun aspects of the game.

Some interesting points came up in my club thread so I am going to take longer on the poster than expected. I will be not only making posters that focus on the social aspects, but also tying in the plethora of different exciting factors like fighting and invasions, also I'll have more pictures to choose from, some that are more dynamic and more akin to the HnG covers. If any of you have any requests for the poster let me know and I'll try to incorporate your ideas.

I liked the Walla Walla flyer so I made something similar. My theory is the ridiculousness of it will be eye catching on a bulletin board. I hung it at the local board game store. We'll see if it gets any response!

I like it...
I did not think it looks ridiculous. Definitely eye catching. I believe having a variety of fliers/posters is good one -different strokes for different folks. I may make some more like that in the future...
