But it seems vulgar, making w top stronger and, as you said as something to avoid, it leaves cutting aji behind.

White fixes its left hand side to make a shape that is not easy to attack. What do you think is the situation? Is it still an even game? SE says White by 59

Well, I had this move in my mind before anyway^^. Besides, I like it to be a game without restrictions, so that players can learn what/how stronger ones think.

I think black's last four moves might have been mistakes as white's stones don't look as stupid as I'd like them to now. Nevertheless this hane is nice.

I do think that after
in the first diagram, White has an edge. However, Uberdude's hane is huge.

I too would have chosen the hane below like Bill, but Pippen chose a different move for us.

My move is yet again: light. If I just extend I'm heavier. My move also kind of sets up/supports a later invasion at a,b or c from the distance. I do not like to invade early, because early invasion means early outside influence for the opponent which is a bad thing if your invasion gets sealed in or semi-sealed in. Mostly that aquired outside influence is more valueable than the invasion points and takeaway points. I like White's position so far, I think it's still an even game, considering that I not only did split, but leave the split stone alone for a while.
p.s. Does someone have CS or Zen on a decent machine? What would they have played instead? How is the position evaluated? Would be cool if someone could give the bot's evaluation on the respective positions.

I give you the credit. The hane was my second candidate, but I had not thought the position through. leichtloeslich's thought was also my first, but I didn't see how to make it work.

Apart from the button you needed to click to actually see my post, there were other subtle hints.
Like "my first instinct" written above and "seems vulgar" written below the diagram.
And in case anyone is wondering: My post hasn't been edited. The diagram was in hide-tags the whole time.
