How did you find that link? I find it increasingly hard to get urls out of facebook, part of their siloization of the internet.

This certainly ought to generate some publicity, let's hope it brings a few new players into the game, even if the machines are getting closer to beating us all.
If only Zuckerb0rg would set the AI team to work on a manga.

They're competing in the monthly KGS bot tournaments, and doing pretty well. http://www.weddslist.com/kgs/past/119/index.html

Re: Facebook is developing a Go AI
Seems there is an easy way to make it stronger here. And how is it possible for a bot not to make a move on time? Results
In round 2, the kibitzers were unable to understand the complicated game between Zen19S and abakus. Abakus won.
In round 4, darkfmcts3 lost on time, in what I think was a lost position, to DolBaram.
In round 5, darkfmcts3 lost on time, in a won position, to Zen19S.
In its round 7 game with Zen19S, abakus tried to fight a double ko from the losing end. It lost the game.

Re: Facebook is developing a Go AI
Hoho, ironic when Zuckerberg says
Also the bragging about only taking 6 months seems a bit off to me, but I suppose you don't get to be a billionaire by being modest. Did the Facebook researchers really work in isolation of all previous Go AI research and invent everything themselves, or are they building on the work of others (both in neural net and Mogo-style MCTS techniques)?
in the past six months we've built an AI that can make moves in as fast as 0.1 seconds and still be as good as previous systems that took years to build.

Well, that paper link was already posted by yoyoma, so for me it was more interesting that Zuckerberg made a public post about Go as that will have millions of readers, so could do a lot to spread word of the game and generate interest. Would be good if there was a highly rated comment below along the lines of "Want to learn how to play this game, check out the American Go Association at www.usgo.org or play online at www.gokgs.com"

Re: Facebook is developing a Go AI
Google Deepmind also made an announcement today which I think trumps Facebooks (no coincidence in timing I think!), keeping their promise of making an exciting announcement. Their AI beat Fan Hui 2p 5-0 in even games, and they have now challenged Lee Sedol to a match. https://googleblog.blogspot.co.uk/2016/ ... me-go.html

Fan Hui formal games (which he lost 0-5) was 1 hour main with 3x30 secs byo yomi. Fan won 2 of 5 informal games with only 3x30s byo yomi.

Were the informal games played before or after the informal games?

No.
(AI is Computer Science, so this thread deserved this joke ; although usually the joke is to answer "Yes".)
