I can tell that the journal is helping. It is motivating me to pick up my tsumego book more often. I am up to problem 800. Only hard black to kill problems remain. On another note I had an interesting experience solving problems today. As I was reading, i saw a variation an instantly dismissed it as a possibility without thinking about. The I paused to wonder what had just happened. I looked at the position more carefully, because I was unsure why I had dismissed it. I realized that there was a shortage of liberties, that I recognized without thinking about it. weird, it feels good though

.
I also watched Leyleth play a game for a bit. I like his style, I am looking forward to playing with him. Its on Leyleth

And I sure want a rematch! Just give me one more chance to kick your butt

Actually, I was very surprised by your level. At first, I thought I could beat you while making dinner... Soon, the steak became my second priority. In the end I lost to a better player than me. All I have to say is: Not at all 8k

It's hard to say, but it was the first time I had felt this thirst for winning while playing online. It's nice to see a good player around here. Was starting to get desperate over the 6 kyus!

I don't feel so good to great today. I played a game, but I only won because my opponent let me kill him. T I don't feel like I deserved to win. his was my first game since my match with Leyleth because I have been busy. I finished my homework early today, so I solved some more tsumego. I am up to problem 865 in 1001 life and death problems. They are definitely getting harder so i am spending more time on each problem. I don't think my new books will arrive by the time I finish 1001 life and death problems, so I am planning on starting over again. Tomorrow is my last day of school, so I will have time to play alot over vacation

. I just don't really feel great so I am probably going to go to bed soon.

You won only because your opponent made a major mistake? Don't feel bad. Instead, train harder and come back to crush the guy!

I am working on it ^^ up to problem 900 in the book. I plan to restart as soon as a finish. (last day of school before vacation, so no homework and I have been do problems during my free periods).

Got a little past problem 900 today. I also played against another 7kyu (win by resign). Although I died in one place, and lived in seki in another. my opponent allowed me to solidify a large amount of territory and kill a large group of stones. I reviewed the game (as usual).
I am going on vacation with my family and returning on Tuesday I don't know if I will be able to update my journal while I am gone, but I will definitely be studying (tesuji, attack and defense, positional judgement, and 1001 life and death problems all packed in my carry on for studying on the plane). I don't think that my large book order will arrive any time soon (a couple more weeks maybe) I plan to restart 1001 life and death problems when I finish it I will go through the sections one at a time paying attention to how many I get right, and whenever I "graduate" one (more than 95% correct of that section) I will stop going through it when I solve those problems. I expect to graduate the two easiest sections on the first time, but the four harder sections may require more than that. If I graduate the entire book. I will read my other books, and work on Gokyo Shumyo on SL until my other books arrive.
This may be my last post for a couple days (or maybe not)

So I got internet ^^. Between the plan ride, and the general fewer obligations, I have finished the book the first time through, and I am now going to through it a second. I finished the fist part (200 one move black to live problems) and I got exactly 95% (190 correct 10 incorrect). I guess I will not be revisiting that chapter on my next read through of the book. I also played a game today even against a 6kyu and won by resignation. My opponent resigned as right before we began passing which kind of annoyed me. My only really big (for a 7kyu) mistake was not punishing an overplay by my opponent. I also think I overplayed a little bit, and was too aggressive. I really won because my opponent was not afraid of making weak groups before they thought about living. I do feel like I am recovering from my feeling of frailty in my games which is good.

320 more tsumego today. In the next group of 200 (one move black to live problems) I got 192 out of 200 correct, so I am not coming back to them either. I have noticed a cycle where I notice I am not getting the all right, then I focus more, then because I am doing so well my focus starts to lapse and then I repeat the process. I am trying to work on focusing more all the time. In the 120 problems following that (a little more than half of the next set) I have 8 wrong so far. I also played a game today and won, although I feel like I did not play well and made alot of mistakes and barely came out ahead. I also started an OGS account and I am working on moving from DGS. I really like the tournament capabilities

Leyleth wants a rematch

I'm glad you're progressing fast. Will maybe give me a little bit of challenge when we play

I would recommend you to look back at the sections of your book again (even the 90% ones!). Of course, it's a good result. But when you consider that in 10 games that have such problems, you'll mess up one... I'm sure you can make it to 100%.
Nice quote from Guo Juan: I'm not afraid of someone who studied quickly 10 000 000 positions. However, I'm afraid of someone who studied well 1 position.
Might think about that...

I get what you are saying, but I this is already my second time through the book, and I want to try other books as well. Also I think that If i improve my general reading ability I will be able to solve easier problems trying harder problems will let me do this better. I also think that of the problems I get wrong, the reason is more because I lose my focus than because I can't read out the problem. I am confident in an actual game where I am more focused I could get them 99.9%.
BTW I would like another game. What time zone are you in, I am EST. Next saturday (the 31st) works for me, However I would prefer to play early afternoon or late morning.

saturdays are hard for me... I'm in EST too, but I can mostly play during the week. Wednesdays, I got a go club reunion. Saturdays, I'm doing something and Sundays, I got another go club reunion (yeah, I'm going at 2 go clubs

) Therefpre, these days, I can only early in the morning or late (past 8PM). The rest of the day, it's pretty much anywhere anytime!

OK so I want to catch up my journal. First I got sick and couldn't focus on go. Then after I recovered I couldn't find the will to play do tsumego all the time. I played two games and lost both. I felt really awful. then, earlier today, I got my Lee Changho Tsumego and I was very excited. I did the entire book in a couple hours and got >90% correct (more details to follow). I feel much better and I might even play a game tonight.
Lee Changho Tsumego book 1 attempt 1:
Errors: 11
Percent correct: 91.06%
Reasons for Mistakes:
Defender Shortage of Liberties that I missed: 4
missed Ko variation: 1
Variation did not work and I thought it did: 2
Missed Variation (Not Ko): 3
Falsely perceived Attacker shortage of Liberties:1
Of these 3 were because of rushing and the other 8 were because of failure to fully analyze the situation.
Out of them the scariest are the variation did not work and I thought it did, because that is not a mistake in reading, but just downright hallucination.

Ugh I just played a horrible game... my opponent played weird moves, which I countered fine until I just died... I even could have saved myself but didn't...
