If you really want to kill, a lot of times you have to make badly broken shape. This is part of why it's hard to kill stones: it takes an extraordinary amount of thickness in order to make the broken shapes strong enough that your opponent can't just rip through them. I won by by 16.5 against karaklis. It was a difficult (but fun) game with many ko fights and large scale trades, in which I think I was rather lucky to come out ahead.
