Qiu Jun won against Jiang Weijie by resign.
Park Junghwan defeated Iyama Yuuta by 3.5.

Iyama Yuuta was leading into middle game. Then started playing strangely at bottom right giving w pretty good area. And invaded top left creating Ko.
But his use of ko material at top right didn't gain any compensation for ko. Strange game. Maybe it is because of his inexperience in big international tournament(faster game).

Park Junghwan is only 18 years old (born 1/11/93) and have won few domestic tournament. He is future super star in Go world.

I think R13 was the losing move. Why didn't he play the proper move of R14?

R14 does look like the proper move. However Iyama was probably worried that white would then hane under (S14) and connect in good rhythm. Next cutting black and making shape with R18 are miai (a and b in the diagram) and white looks very lively.

In the game, Iyama played :b1:

at 'a'. It's a technique to prevent white from finding a rhythm like this and making life too quickly. Since the followup to Q14 doesn't seem severe enough, maybe what he needed was a better ko threat?

I just found out that you can export text diagrams like this from Quarry and paste them straight into Sensei's or L19. How cool's that?

After White 112 @ R15, Black is facing the choice of normal endgame versus complicating things. The ko in the top left can mean he felt behind but sometimes ko in adversory potential territory aims at sealing an advantageous game. I believe this was an attempt to come back, rather than a tactic to claim the game, but strangely there seemed to be no large scale ko threats. Yes, he could reclaim the bottom right, but White also had some nasty threats out there. Somehow Black was behind on both territory and thickness. This means the exchange in the bottom right must have been favourable for White and probably decisive at that.

Seems to be a bug in quarry, the first line should be $$Bc, not $$cB.

Go park junghwan, I watched his game against Iyama Yuta. I thought after the cut, black got attack in the middle, and Park was leading the game. But both players were richly imaginative. I thought Park would have a hard time saving/reducing his stone in the lower right. This game was hard both side. Very nice large scale game for both side, full of up and down. A lot of the betting on Tygem was against Park in the first two session lol.

I'm glad to see Qiu Jun reach the final. He will now be (finally) promoted to 9 dan for reaching his second international final (Samsung Cup, 2003). I've always liked his style and thought he would have achieved more up to this point. Hopefully he pulls through!

I was rooting for Iyama at this point, it's a bit sad to see him knocked out. But of course Park Junghwan is a very strong opponent, and I think Iyama can be quite happy with making top 4, especially since he had to beat Gu Li and Choi Cheolhan to get there. Also there's still the 3rd place match vs. Jiang Weijie which should also be quite interesting.

No, that's just a human introduced error on my part. I added the coordinates as an afterthought. :-|

Iyama Yuuta won over Jiang Weijie for 3rd place.

BTW. This thread got me interested in the origins of the tournament, and if you're also curious, GoGoD, (which also includes descriptions of each year's tournament, all the pairings, results and SGFs), has this to say about it:

yay, my prediction came true. I thought after Park split white group into two, Qiu Jun would be over, but he comes up moves after moves. Great player. However, I think Park got complete control of this game.
