6th game of the Meijin. Iyama is still alive.
The score is now 3-3, with a deciding game next week. Nigiri again.
Does this sound familiar? It sure does. I have even read a comment somewhere (twitter?)... according to it, not only the results are the same, but how the games progressed are similar too.
On one hand, I'd like another comeback. Fight against nature, epic,...
On the other hand, I'd feel bad for Shibano if he lost. Young players have little chance against punk Iyama.

Shibano could be on the way to final after that endgame magic.

Poor Shibano lost in the end.
I don't understand why he captured three stones in this position after the marked move was played. It doesn't look bigger than playing in the corner and it doesn't look like the biggest endgame. Why not play in the lower left?

The king is dead, long live the king.
Shibano is the new Kisei. The match went all the way and Ichiriki and Shibano had to nigiri for the second time. Overall, I think that Shibano did better. Even before the last game. The games he won, were solid. The games he lost... he started better than Ichiriki. Only in the 6th game, which Shibano resigned early the second day (he waited too long, maybe), Ichiriki was above him. Even so, I wasn't sure about the outcome. Because Ichiriki fights, he is patient, and if the opponent makes a mistake, he will be there. Iyama has lost many games like this, and I thought that Ichiriki's experience, in the end, could prevail. But no. In the last days, Shibano showed more mental strength.
BTW: the first game was played in Hawaii. Everybody, players included, wore Hawaian shirts. You have to see it...

Or maybe not, I remember John Fairbairn stating that among the strength of Shibano Toramaru there is the ability to play only against the board.
Sure thing that's not my best feature.
I hope they can play a beautiful final game!
