Hello again, people. My name is Chuck Thomas. Some of you may remember me as the former owner of Shodan Imports, and author of Igolocal.net.

I'm posting to announce the launch of http://findgoplayers.com. I hope you find it useful.

I think that I was the second person on the map! Three Dog Night is still a lonely number...

So how does it get updated? Can visitors add themselves?

Yes, you can either make a site account or log in with facebook or google.

igolocal was great! Why did it die? will findgoplayers die too? (sorry, had to ask)

I have just signed up. Apparently I am the strongest go player in North America!

That or more people need to sign up...

xed, the truth is a little too personal for a public forum. Things happened. I make no guarantees, but I have bigger plans for the software platform than just this one site.

This is exactly what I was wondering.

I was going to say I won't sign up for this one until I know what measures are already in place or planned to prevent this site from a similar mysterious death.

Then I loaded the site and immediately noticed a large "Hire Me" link.

Sorry, I have no intention of bolstering your resume. Good luck though. I hope whatever personal circumstances lead to the demise of igolocal don't inflict you again, and that this site will be a success.

Hello Chuck, yes, I certainly remember how happy I was to find igolocal.net, I even promoted it here (just search for igolocal.net in the forum) and elsewhere.

And I also remember how it went down just a few days after I registered and entered my data. I must say … I took that personal

Well, useful it sure may be, but I admit that, after the past experience with igolocal, my trust is quite low … and it is Yet Another Site that requires login …

Dylan Carter has created a Google Map where everybody with a Google account can enter their data: World Go Clubs Map (I created a bit.ly shortcut: bit.ly/WrldGo), with separate layers for clubs, associations, and individuals.

I wish I knew about the Google map first. Still, I must be in hundreds of databases already, whether I like it or not. And I can't stop my wife from posting every detail of our lives on Facebook...
