Hello everyone. I thought setting up a topic for Learn Go Week might help get the ball rolling (see GoGameGuru's page
http://gogameguru.com/learn-go-week/)
This is a place to share what you are doing for Learn Go Week and a place to share ideas and suggestions. This way we can work together towards making this a truly exceptional international event.
For example:
Australia: Sydney: stall around the Opera House and The Quay teaching and playing demonstration games with pamphlets on how to play for beginners and information on our club - Sydney Go Club (
http://sydney.baduk.org.au). Possibly adverts in local papers/posters around town.
Also suggestions on how to get the word out there very welcome.
So add whatever ideas come to mind to make Learn Go Week a great experience for all.

... and here is what BritGo are up go :^)
"Also, during Learn Go Week and the following week, we will be offering online teaching sessions for beginners via the britgo teaching account on Kiseido Go Server (KGS). This will be geared at new people to the game, and therefore in the run up to this we would be looking for volunteers that might be able to help Roger Huyshe, should we have a fairly large influx of games to organise during the week."

Does playing go in your local park count?

Absolutely
The more people out there playing in public the better - parks, cafés, pubs, anywhere people gather to enjoy themselves.
GoGameGuru has a nice page set up with suggestions and material to give out ... So when passers by ask what are you playing you have material on hand to give them.

To all you volunteers out there, it would be great if you could announce your event on the LGW website as soon as you are able. Doing so builds momentum, and encourages other volunteers to do the same. The more events there are (listed!), the easier it is to gather local, national or global media interest in advance of the actual week. ...which will in turn help your event. Smilies..

"Win a coffe today... just come at my desk and see how..."

There is
no single “Learn Go Week” Web site that I know of but several that participate.

The #1 hit on that google search at gogameguru.com is the original web site for Learn Go Week. I'm not sure whether it was David's or Jing's idea.
