There was a Go event on an island in southern China this past weekend.
Takemiya sensei, Gu Li, and some members of League A were there.
( I don't have the name of the Go forum event;
the name of the island is 廣東陽江海陵島. )

These pictures make me want to see a Go Congress in Hawaii. Yes, it would be hard to pull off, but no one thought NYC was possible either.

I never thought a NY go congress was impossible. Flights to NYC are not bad. Hawaii flight costs alone are awful.

That was Ke Jie (red shirt) playing the large avalanche in the first game. Interestingly, it was against Yang Dingxin, who got involved in it again in the next game.
This is the only recent game of Ke Jie's that featured this joseki. Maybe he saw something in Yang Dingxin's past games that made him believe it was a good choice.
