I saw some games on wbaduk today between Eastern and Western players, for example Alexander Dinerstein 3p (who did So Yokoku's quadruple 5-7 opening!) against Mi Yuting 9p. https://gogameguru.com/pro-go-calendar/ revealed this is the 4th SportAccord World Mind Games. There is coverage of the Go on the IGF's magazine at:

and the event website is:

And some bad news about Park Junghwan, I hope he is not too badly hurt and recovers quickly.

It seems a Russian player beat a Taiwanese player in the first round?!

Yeah it seems Natalia Kovaleva 5d beat a Taiwanese 4p. I must say I am little surprised as when I played her at the EGC I was winning quite comfortably until I turned into an idiot in byo-yomi. But then she beat Cornel Burzo in her next game, so maybe that was just a bad day for her, and this is a good one. :)

There is a very nice coverage on the SportAccord youtube channel:

Michael Redmond is commenting with the help of John Richardson (hope i've got his name right).

Today's Highlight features an interview with Lee Hajin.

These appear to be very high level tournaments. I can see 10+ games on major Asian servers. I will import them into Go4Go database quite soon. Here is the tournament information:

There's a women's tournament with 12 players. 4 are seeded into 2nd round directly. Then they play a double-elimination tournament to decide the champion. The winner will take home $40,000.

There's a men's team tournament with 6 teams (Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, USA, joint Russia/France team, and Japan) and each team has 3 players. Each team will play all other teams. Winning team will take home $120,000.

There's a pair-Go tournmament with 8 pairs of players. Single elimination and winner prize $24,000.

The tournaments are held in Beijing.

[Edit] 13 game records are all online: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/tournament/149

The Dinerchtein vs Mi Yuting game is pretty interesting as Dinerchtein started with the Cho U opening.

What an epic fail. No Go game records on the official website. Very amateurish.

But they are athletes engaging in sports, not games! You don't have a game record of Usain Bolt running 100m do you? ;-)

Oh wait, you get video highlights...

You know what I mean. You'd have video clips from his 100m dashes - every qualifier, every semifinal and the final. In Go I do not demand that, but at least the game records should be standard with all these sponsors involved. How do they hope to get people interested when all you find on the website is razzle-dazzle?

Contact them. I'm sure they wouldn't want to seem unprofessional. Not at all.
