Registration Opens for 2015 Osaka Go Camp

The 2015 Osaka Go Camp is set for June 28 – July 18, supported by the Kansai Kiin and the Osaka University of Commerce. The camp offers intensive training by Kansai-Kiin pros, the opportunity to play go inside the Kiin with pros, play against top amateur players, former inseis, sightseeing to major historical cities like Kyoto and Nara. A discount of 5000 JPY is available for students who pay the deposit before February 28, 2015.

Wow, I hadn't heard of this before. Seems like a great experience. I wish I'd known about it when I was a bit younger.

Then again, maybe I'll be able to sell my wife on disappearing for 3 weeks when the kids are a bit older.

I first parsed this as "Maybe I'll be able to sell my wife and disappear".

Being at a military academy does tend to restrict one's summer plans but this sounds really cool! If I could, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Probably a good chance to pick up some Japanese too.

Dear Go friends,
This is Ryo Maeda 6p of Kansai-Kiin. I have been attending the US Go Congress for the past 14 years.
The Osaka Go Camp, which we are annually holding in Japan, will take place from June28th to July18th 2015. This year’s go camp will have new content to look forward.
We have league games in the mornings and full teaching programs in the afternoons by professional players every day. The teaching programs will be in English.
On holidays, we will also organize some day trips to places like downtown Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and a two day trip to Himeji Hyogo( The Himeji Castle has been designated a World Heritage site).
This year, we are planning on holding an academic conference based on Go, (July 4th) and a Team Relay Go tournament (July 3th). Team Relay Go is a popular even in China. It was also played at the 2014 European Go Congress.
