After 5 days of grueling tournament, the following players advanced to the main tournament.

Korea: Ko Keuntae, Lee Jihyun, Ahn Jeongki(a), Kim Myounghoon, Na Hyun
China: Fan Yunruo, Peng Liyao, Huang Yunsong, Shi Yue, Tan Xiao, Li Kang, Tang Weixing,

In the preliminary, 207 from Korea, 98 from China, 13 from Japan, 19 from Taiwan participated this tournament.

Korea: Park Junghwan, Kim Jiseok(Winner and runner up), Kang Dongyoon, Choi Cheolhan, Park Younghoon, Won Seongjin, Lee Donghoon, Lee Changho and Lee Sedol(Special Seed, Winner of at least 2 Champions commemorating 20th LG cup), Byun Sangil(Winner of Challengers cup,Young players from Korea, China and Japan were invited)
China: Ke Jie Zhou Ruiyang, Tuo Ziaxi Chen Yaoe, Gu Li(2 times winner)
Japan: Takao Shinji, Cho U, Hane Naoki, Yuki Satoshi
Taiwan: Lin Junyan

For many years, 16 players were selected from LG preliminary tournament. This year, the number was reduced to 12. 3 special seats go to the Lee Changho, Lee Sedol and Gu Li; 1 goes to the winner of a special tournament for young players to mark the 20th year of LG Cup. It was won by Byun Sangil.

Just to make sure everyone realizes that the "(a)" after Ahn Jeongki in the qualifiers from Korea marks him as an amateur. Well done!

Ahn Jeongki

Mr Ahn reached Main tournament by defeating Jeon Youngkyu 6p, Zhu Yuanhao 4p, Liao Yuanhe 2p, An Joyoung 9p, and Kim Seungjae 6p.

Specially An Joyoung and Kim Seungjae were really tough opponent.

Liao Yuanhe 2p just won the Xinren Wang, China's youth championship, on March 30th. So he is not so weak either.

I've watched some preliminary matches on Wbaduk, too bad that not any Japanese can qualify, even Ichikiri lost right at his first game.

I am also disappointed when I see the Japanese representatives in the main tournament, where are Iyama and the young guns?
