BIg difference in score

These 2 games I played against GNUGo Level 1. In each game I tried a different opening strategy. In the first one I tried something more attack-oriented and I ended up having to be on the run for most of the game. White won this game by a big margin and my play felt rather s**tty. In the second I reverted to my gote no sente approach (i.e., building thickness before attacking) and won by a big margin. Perhaps this latter game can be called lucky because the Black group in the center lived, with some aji-keshi occurring in the process. Much obliged in advance for your comments.
